Favorite Puzzles for Toddlers

We are sharing our favorite puzzles for toddlers. Puzzles have been an incredible learning tool for my son. Puzzles are fun because you get to build something and see the results. They are also an amazing screen free activity that engages your child in a fun way. They build fine motor skills and overall just get to enjoy the satisfaction and fun of puzzle making. My son also experienced the progression of trying it at first, to struggling with frustration, to trying again and getting it. Its amazing to see and watch! This blog post is all about puzzles for toddlers and kids that we have enjoyed and loved so far from infancy to almost three years old.

Lovevery Puzzles

We first were exposed to puzzle learning in our Loveevery Play Kit subscription. I have talked a lot about Lovevery kits on the blog and it is for a good reason. The kits are expertly designed to align with the stages and phases your baby and young child is in. These kits have puzzles that are curated and selected based on the childs stage in their development. They progressively get more challenging as your child grows. In my humble opinion, I believe my son is able to do other types of puzzles we included in this blog post because of the puzzle progression in his Lovevery kits.

Educational Number & Letter Puzzles

There is nothing better than something that serves multiple purposes. I love a good puzzle for toddlers that can also be used to teach basic concepts with our children. We have had this BEKILOLE Wooden Number Puzzle for Toddlers (Amazon) and ABC Puzzle for Toddlers (Amazon) for a while now. Early on, we started using the alphabet puzzle. We also use this puzzle now in our toddler homeschool journey. The same goes for this number puzzle. The possibilities are endless with the number puzzle. You can learn numbers, counting, associating the numeral with the amount of items, additional, subtraction, multiplication, etc. Both of these puzzles have grown with my son over the past two and half years and will continue to grow with him on his journey of learning.

The Dollar Tree Puzzles for Toddlers & Kids

When our son started to really show interest in puzzles, we started to realize we need more variety of puzzles around the house. We popped into the Dollar Tree one day and I remembered why I loved going their when I was a teacher. But now they have an amazing range of educational products to use with your little ones that are obviously an affordable price. That said, if a piece of a puzzle is lost or broken, it doesn’t cost as much as a puzzle you spent thirty dollars on. The dollar tree is one of our favorite places to find puzzles for toddlers and older children too.

They have a variety of both educational puzzles like the alphabet puzzles, number puzzles, and animal learning puzzles that we use with our son’s homeschool. But they also have amazing and fun character puzzles like Disney princesses, Gabby’s Dollhouse, Spidey and Friends, Ninja Turtles, Jurassic Park, etc. These are all fun and relatable for our kiddos. Also, not everything has to be 100% educational per say. Although they are still building skills with the puzzle no matter what the theme is. Definitely be aware of the age recommendations. Some have larger pieces, others are very small. Always supervise your child when doing puzzles or any other activities of course!

Crocodile Creek Puzzles

I would say that Crocodile Creek is a high end and quality brand of amazing and educational puzzles. They have soft colors and a wide range of ages for their puzzles. We first were gifted an amazing Vehicles puzzle (Amazon) for two year olds from my sister in law for Christmas. These two piece puzzles helped him learn how to do puzzles too by matching one side of a vehicle to another. Then we bought our son this amazing jungle animal one. Crocodile Creek puzzles are amazing, fun, and have large pieces that are perfect puzzles for toddlers. They are nice and thick quality. They have a wide range of options for a wide range of ages. Melissa & Doug Puzzles for Toddlers

Melissa and Doug is an incredible and affordable educational brand that has so many play based toy options. I love that they are learning through play focused and have mostly wooden toys. We have this Farm Wooden Cube Puzzle With Storage Tray in 1 (Amazon) that my sister in law gifted us too for one Christmas. This one our son loves because you can make multiple animals. We also have an amazing Wooden Fishing Game and Puzzle With Wooden Ocean Animal Magnet (Amazon) which our son has enjoyed so much too. Melissa and Doug has amazing puzzles for toddlers and amazing other toy options that are perfect for kids of all ages.

Puzzles for Toddlers Concluded

This post is inspired by my almost three year old’s love for puzzles!!! It is also inspired by me being in awe of how incredible he is at doing puzzles. It has been amazing to see his progression over time. Puzzles are also fun for us to do as adults with our children. Try to be patient with your child and try to allow them to try on their own. It’s incredible to watch them try and then try again and get it. It’s also amazing to guide them and model for them how to do something. Then watch them do it the next time. Enjoy doing puzzles with your little ones. It’s a beautiful way to learn and bond with screen free fun time!
