Father’s Day is a special day. I know for sure I could not be the mother I am today without first and foremost my dad. Plus, also my husband, and my father in law. They all have taught me so many things about life. They all have supported me in so many ways and I am grateful for each of their roles in my life. This meaningful father’s day gifts guide is not your traditional physical gift ideas. It focuses heavily on practicality, experiences, and memories made together with the dad’s in your life.
Honoring the Dad’s in your Life
Father’s day is a special day to celebrate the dad’s in our lives. Also, it’s a great way to honor and respect the dad’s who have worked hard all their lives to provide for their families, like my dad. Or the dad’s who run households and take care of their children, like my husband. Or the dad’s who are always there when you need them for a home project and beyond, like my father in law. We love a good day to celebrate, but don’t forget to celebrate and send them love during the year too.
Remembering Dad’s and Grandpa’s who have passed away
If you have lost your dad or grandparent, this day can be difficult. My grandpa’s both passed away before I even finished high school. So for me it’s about living on their legacies and remembering ways they made me smile and laugh. And ultimately knowing they are still with me always. This makes Father’s Day a little easier. We can still celebrate and honor our loved ones even when they are not here on earth with us.
Respecting those who wish to become dads
If you want to be a dad and father’s day is challenging in that sense, we send you so much love. We understand how hard it is to be patient for the gift of parenthood to arrive in your life. We wish you everything you want in this lifetime and more.
Let’s get into the meaningful father’s day gift ideas.
The Gift of Food & Time Spent
I have talked a lot on the blog about experience gifting in Toddler Gift Guide: Educational + Experience and Gifting Tips for Kids blog posts. Experience gifting is my favorite way to gift the loved ones or little ones in my life. Because memories, quality time, and conversation are truly invaluable. Life is a gift in itself and spending time with one another is priceless.
I love to cook dinner for my loved ones with a heart full of love! I also love to take my loved ones out for coffee and enjoy time together. My favorite spots for special occasions like this is Campo at Los Poblanos for brunch or a nice dinner. Or for a more casual coffee gift vibe, Little Bear Coffee is incredible. Their Nob Hill location in Albuquerque has a breakfast/lunch food truck which is so good. Our Favorite Albuquerque Coffee and Food Spots blog post has more ideas for fun places to go for an occasion like this in Albuquerque.
Tip: Ask the husband, dad, father in law, or dad figure in your life where their favorite spot to go eat or get coffee and then take them there. They are sure to enjoy a place that they love and you get to spend time with them, so it’s a win-win. Or if you are cooking a dinner or brunch ask them what they like or feel like. That will make them feel super special and loved.
Special and Intentional Gifts
Ask what your dad has been wanting or needing lately. Based on your budget, contribute to that by purchasing it or by buying a gift card to use towards it.
I also love the idea of StoryWorth which emails your loved one a question each week to answer about themselves or their life. Then at the end of a year, they produce a book of amazing stories about your loved one creating a masterpiece of memories for you and your family to enjoy forever. I love this idea so much because I wish I knew more about many of my family members. You can order multiple copies of the book at the end too. This one is a perfect meaningful father’s day gift choice.
If you need a more budget friendly version of this type of gift, Amazon has an amazing journal option for Grandparents (linked here from Amazon) or one specifically for for Dad’s too (linked here from Amazon). These are also guided prompts and journals that tell the story of the dad in your life. This is a treasure to have for your family to enjoy the memories and life of your dad.
A Gift Basket of Favorite Things
I love a cost efficient and fun way to gift a loved one. Grab a basket or bag and fill it with the dad in your life’s favorite candies, self-care products like deodorant or soap, snacks, drinks, pens, socks, magazine, etc. This is cost efficient, because you can track and manage what you are putting in and truly make it super personal to the dad in your life.
A Book, a great Meaningful Father’s Day Gift option
Book’s are an amazing and cost efficient gift. They are truly special. I love to write a note, much like a card, in the front of the book to add a personalized and meaningful touch. Below are some book ideas to gift the dad in your life based on their interests. A good book is a special treat for a loved one to enjoy over and over. Also, it’s a sweet memory to read the note you add in the front cover for years to come.

Father’s Day Plans
Our Father’s day traditions include having an entire day for my Husband to choose what he wants to do. We will go to Brunch at our personal favorite spot. Then he will get to do exactly what he wants to do that entire day. If that is sleeping in or going to the park or whatever he wants, then that is what we will do. It’s a special day intended for relaxation and celebration of the Dads who surely deserve to be celebrated.
Now that my husband and I have our son, we try to celebrate the day before Father’s day. We even try to celebrate the weekend before depending on our availability. This is helpful because trying to celebrate three people in one day can get to be challenging, busy, and quite overwhelming. We love to stay present and enjoy all the memories together with our dad’s so sometimes choosing to celebrate before father’s day is a great option.
Father’s Day meaningful Gifts Conclusion
We hope you enjoyed this gifting inspiration for the dad’s in your life. Enjoy the day and remember that we don’t have to wait until father’s day to send our dad’s love and appreciation. They deserve to be celebrated all the time for all they do for us. We are grateful for our dad’s beyond measure.
